How It Works
It's simple! First, the exchange organizer creates a new exchange and gets a share link.
Then, the organizer invites participants to join.
Finally, everyone makes their lists and starts shopping!Features
Exchanges
- Enter the details of your exchange like: a creative name for the celebration, the date of the exchange and additional details for participants
- Add unlimited participants to your exchange
- Get a share link to send to participants so they can join
- Update the exchange details and the participant list at any time
- Exchange organizer has full control to manage the exchange and all list items, comments, etc.
- Simple "magic link" style log in. You enter your email and get a link in your inbox to log in. You shouldn't have to log in much.
Christmas Lists
- Add unlimited items to your list
- Add items to other people's lists (great for making lists for younger kids, for example)
- Add secret items to other people's lists to surprise them!
- Add photos to your list items for inspiration
- Add links to your item description and the link details appear below
- List item comments - anyone in the exchange can comment on any item
- Secret list item comments. Hidden from the list owner!
Shopping List
- When viewing other people's lists, click the checkbox next to the item to add it to your shopping list
- Items show who has added them to their shopping list to facilitate sharing a gift (list owner can't see, though)
- Shopping list shows all added items grouped by list owner
- Mark items as purchased
- Filter shopping list to show all items, only purchased items, or only unpurchased items

Why It's Free
Hi! I'm Andy, the creator of Noelist. I made this site for two reasons.
The first reason is that my family needed an app to manage our Christmas gift exchange. We were tired of constantly searching the group chat for everyone's lists and we had had enough of making ten different new chats to exclude people so we could talk about their gifts. Plus we thought it would be fun to make our own little social media site just for Christmas!
The second reason I made this is that I needed a demo site for my freelance dev company, SpaceLaser. I wanted to show off my skills and I thought this would be a fun project to do it with! The site is built with Next.js, Prisma, TailwindCSS and ShadCN/ui.
So there you go. That's why it's free. My family needed a thing and I needed a demo. That said, the site does cost a bit to run, so if you find it useful, you could buy me a coffee. Or better yet, if you would like to build a a web app like this, I would love to talk to you!
